At the webpage of Trøndelag Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Beginnings:
"It is sad, it is sensitive, at times rough and uncomfortable. But in a spectacular way the sombre is also described with humour in this characteristic symbiosis of art forms.
When one unites the powers of three players from the absolute highest level in the country within their respective art fields- yes, one understands that one sits at a genre-traversing salvo of gunpowder.
The Brage Award winner Carl Frode Tiller from Namsos has been among the best known writers in the country in recent years. Motorpsycho is the rock band that has always sought to cross limits, on behalf of their own as well as others. The company De Utvalgte, with director Kari Holtan and video designer Boya Bøckman in the forefront, has been hailed as one of the best and most innovative performing arts companies in the country, one that surpasses most with their scarily strong and poetic contemporary theatre.
During a run of 38 performances the interaction between these three equally important forms of expression is to fold out at Gamle Scene. The wrapping won't always be the same. Motorpsycho has warned that they want to create, not reproduce, when they enter the stage anew every evening. That attitude fits the production well, as it is about the many beginnings and improvised attempts in life. About our ingrained feature, that we always try to get back up, get going and start over- even though the ending is never guaranteed.
It is exactly in this more or less dysfunctional communication between humans that friction rise, in Tiller's universe.
De Utvalgte is supported by Arts Council Norway."

"More important than the memories in themselves, is the filter of desperation and distance Terje sees them through. For the spectator, Boya Bøckman's video design makes up one part of this filter, Motorpsycho's music another, and the distanced acting - both on video and live onstage, at times simultaneously - a third. Through the garish colour combinations of the video, and the opposite, images almost without colour, and through the music's loud dissonance, at times interrupted by sudden harmonies, heightened contrasts are added to the sense impressions."
