"Princeton, New Jersey. 1955: Thomas Stolz Harvey has just performed an autopsy on the recently passed Albert Einstein. Without thinking he takes his brain, cuts it into small pieces and conserves it on glasses. He hopes to solve the mystery of Einstein's genius, through finding physical evidence for it in the brain. This leads him on a life-long search for an ephemeral truth that may not exist. A wandering in which the professor's brain is the only faithful companion.
Bath, England. 1953: Henry Maison, barely 20 years old and engaged, suffers strong epileptic episodes. In the hope of getting rid of them he is subject to a controversial surgical operation in the brain. The surgery changes Henry's life and neuro-psychology (memory research) for ever. His epilepsy disappears, but so does Henry's ability to store new memories.
London, England. Today: Martha Murphy is a neuro-psychologist. After her divorce she makes radically different choices than before, and she declares personality or 'the self' an illusion."
