Slitte Never by Grenland Friteater combined three techniques:

RADIO: In personal conversation with Lars Vik, a number of retired pensioners from different backgrounds told what kind of work their hands have been doing, and hence, what kind of life they have lead.

PHOTOGRAPHY: The hands were portrayed close-up by Dag Jenssen, and the photographies was developed to grand-scale pictures. In the colour photos the audience couldn’t trace much pedicure; the focus was on well-used hands belonging to men and women who have made an effort.

THEATRE: An actor was hosting Slitte Never, reading excerpts from the book Meg eier ingen* (Nobody owns me) in which the author Åsa Linderborg tells an intimate story about her childhood, remembering her father’s working hands.

Slitte Never was a production by Grenland Friteater for The Cultural Walking Stick (a sister project to The Cultural Rucksack, but for the elderly rather than for children).
