Sylvan

Sylvan by Pedro Gómez-Egaña (Colombia/Norway). Pedro Gómez-Egaña has his background from music and composition in addition to visual arts. This is obvious in all his work, in which timing is important.

Pedro Gómez-Egaña’s work operates somewhere between visual art and performance. Low-tech mechanisms, drawings, sculptures and written anecdotes are taken advantage of in the production of a logical structure, loaded with cinematic moods. Many of the works discuss subjects such as fear and anxiety, but they are nevertheless made as contemplative performance works. His new work for Oktoberdans is the work "Sylvan".

"Sylvan" includes softly wheeling, metallic structures on tracks, examining the mechanisms activating the structures. Eventually, as the slowly moving objects reveal a series of images, the whole composition will begin to point at the conditions for the one performer drawing the strings.
