More

At the website of The Norwegian Theatre the following, among other things, is written about Mr. Marmalade:

"How do children look at us adults? And what happens to a four-year old who has soap operas, teenage girls and their boyfriends as her babysitters?

Lucy is such a four-year old. She has found herself an imaginary friend who is a sadist as well as a drug addict: Mr. Marmalade. A business man with an urge for cocaine and porn, who has one thing in common with her mother, no time for Lucy. Because of this, his assistant often visits instead, the suppressed Bradley, who often has his ass kicked. Lucy's mother often gets home late with different men."

Press coverage

Lillian Bikset, Harmløs er ikke moroa i Det Norske Teatrets Herr Marmelade (literally: Harmless, the fun in The Norwegian Theatre's Mr. Marmalade is not), Dagbladet April 14 2016:

"Mr. Marmalade is humour continuously shifting between the playful and the uncomfortable. In the main, Haidle's text and Kaada's manage to balance the effects. From time to other one may find that it goes off track, and becomes too much, too tasteless, too violent, too silly. But that's a point: Lucy's childhood also goes off track, that, too, is too much, too tasteless, too violent and too silly. (...) Sara Khorami plays a four-year old grown up too soon, Rolf Kristian Larsen suicidal five-year old. Both do so with a fascinatingly out-portioned mix of adult and childish features and gestures."
