At Oktoberdans 2008, Ugo Dehaes captivated the audience with his collaboration with Keren Levi, Couple-like. In his performance, Forces, he combines his own highly physical dancing style with an interest in physics, a fascination for everything from the smallest particles to the eternal laws of nature.

In the preliminary phases of working with Forces, it became clear that the performance would consist of short dance fragments resembling pop songs in that they could be played in different orders, just like songs may change places in the set list of any concert.

Forces is dance piece that is inspired by the four universal forces that keep our world together: gravity, electro-magnetism, the weak nuclear force and the strong nuclear force.

Dehaes has his background from P.A.R.T.S., Europe’s most recognized education in modern dance, and is one of Belgium’s most promising young contemporary choreographers. In 2000, he established the company Kwaad Bloed (bad blood) with Charlotte Vanden Eynde.
