Bodyweather was developed towards the end of the 1970es by the Japanese Butoh dancer Min Tanaka. It is a workout method as well as a system based on the coherence between the mental and the physical. Bodyweather is an expansive body workout system fusing dance, martial arts and the self.
By fusing their own experience and Min Tanaka’s workout, in Bodyweather Interface Van de Ven and Lynch attempt to promote Tanaka’s tradition and to relate it to contemporary dance and performance art. They are both former dancers from his now dissolved company Mai-Juku.
