Neither Victim nor Executioner - Expanding the Battle Zone
Neither Victim nor Executioner - Expanding the Battle Zone by Tore Vagn Lid/Transiteatret-Bergen was the fourth episode of the theatre series To Be Continued... Rather than making the music and the musician the accompaniment, an aesthetic assistant from the camouflaged orchestral pit, the roles were switched. The performance was what can be called an audio play with music or vice versa. The musical material was based on developed fragments of classical material from Wagner to Stravinsky, and was realized by two actors, two singers, violin, cello and drums.

Audiovisual enlargements of the battle zone by Tore Vagn Lid/Transiteatret-Bergen:
"With the performance Neither Victim nor Executioner - Expanding the Battle Zone (the title refers to an essay by Albert Camus) the objective has not been to stage or to dramatise Houellebecq’s novel, but to capture and present some central passages and reasoning from the text as an important part of a more expanded scenic whole of sound, light, video and my own texts. By placing Houellebecq’s uncompromised textual passages in new scenic, visual and – not least – musical contexts, my wish is to find, enlarge, oppose and perhaps also discover new dimensions and sound images in a (at least for me) important novel text. In the shadow of his more famous novels such as "Atomised" and "Platform", it is interesting to see how Houellebecq here – as early as 1994 – reaches the fundamental insights and experiences in a battle zone camouflaged as a flexible sphere of pleasure; a scary scenario with a distinct dramatic sparkle, without originally being meant for the stage."
