"We talk a lot, but what do we really say? Does the important stuff of life disappear in an endless stream of communication?
The fundamental question about the meaning of life has not become any easier to respond to in the modern, fragmented world. Wolfram Lotz' play A Few Messages to Space continues where Beckett let go. With much of the same absurd humour Lotz takes a further step in his depiction of a splintered world. As in Beckett the characters insist on creating coherent images of the world.
That can be difficult when time and place are dissolved in this play, subtitled Vi er inne i en eksplosjon (literally: We are inside an explosion). Onstage is an apparatus to send short messages into space. But what is it important to transmit???"
