"Marianne, Solveig and Lise meet every Monday in Marianne's home, to drink wine and play bridge. The hostess doesn't care one bit what others may think of her - as long as she gets her daily glass of sherry and appropriate doses of male admiration. The widow Solveig longs and searches for love and attention. Whereas Lise struggles with a husband who as the years have passed has become more focused on sex than he should - at least Lise thinks so.
The will to act and the inventiveness in the women are stimulated when the municipally employed fixer Freddy and the widower Per show up in their lives. The dialogue is filled with poignant moments, and the themes are easy to recognise for most of us. Whatever age."
