"In the cabaret Dar kjem dampen we follow the popular singer-songwriter Ivar Medaas through his journey from the barn to the stage. This is not a biographical presentation of Medaas, but rather a journey within the community he came from. We get another chance to listen to the familiar, loved songs, and are taken back in time to an age when the dock and the grocery were important meeting places for the people living in rural surroundings. Rich characters and the typical coastal temperament are presented with respect and love, placed in a community and a culture about to disappear."
Ivar Medaas came from Alversund in Nordhordland. He became a musician, singer-songwriter, revue actor and TV and radio humourist, and he collaborated with composer Geir Tveitt and poet Jakob Sande, among others.
