At the webpage of Trøndelag Theatre the following, among other things, is written about La Ronde:
"In a cycle of ten meetings we follow ten characters with different social backgrounds. Behind the seemingly innocent conversations one aim is hidden: sex. After the dates the parties soon split up. One shows up in the next meeting with a new person, only to be exchanged with another partner. A piquant theme, filled with comedy.
Is the human's repetitious behaviour apparently empty and meaningless desire, or an expression for something larger; something outside of ourselves? What rules us; a desperate need to be loved, or a hunt for one's own ability to love?
The Austrian playwright and Freudian Arthur Schnitzler wrote La Ronde (Reigen) in 1897. He understood that the text broke the norms of the day and at first he only gave it to friends and acquaintances. After a while, when La Ronde was published in Vienna, it was quickly censored. And when the play eventually reached the stage in 1920, Schnitzler was accused of obscenity and porn, and it soon became banned from the stage."
