"In the Hamlet of Teatret Vårt (Our Theatre) Valborg Frøysnes plays Hamlet. To cast a female actor has often been done before and from pretty dissimilar rationales. Historically Hamlet's passivity is regarded as a female characteristic. That is not how we look at it. We live in an age where everyone has the right to choose whether to be a man or a woman. If anyone should ask why we choose a woman to interpret this role the answer is clear. After a year of celebrating the general right to vote we answer undoubtedly: why not?"
