Blue Motel
Blue Motel (2013) is a theatre production by Lisa B. Lie and Pony of No Return.
Lisa B. Lie directed it. The text was devised in collaboration with the ensemble.
Kenneth Homstad was nominated for The Hedda Award 2015 in the best supporting actor category for his work in Blue Motel. Lisa Lie and PONR were nominated in the best stage text category for the text. Lisa Lie won The Hedda Award in the special artistic achievement category for her complete work on the production.
The Hedda Jury gave the following reason:
"The person who is given the special artistic achievement award of the year is in many ways a wonderful exemplar of the kind of artistic mighty effort that ought to be rewarded with this award. The winner had the idea, wrote the text and directed a weird and magical performance that mesmerised its audience. The winner is rewarded with The Hedda Award for her admirable urge to explore, her will and skill in making intelligent and funny performing arts filled with strange insights.
The Hedda Award for special artistic achievement goes to Lisa Lie for her concept, text and direction of Blue Motel."

At the webpage of Black Box Teater the following, among other things, is written about Blue Motel:
"When Lisa Lie creates Blue Motel in collaboration with invited artists with PONR as a platform, Black Box' main stage is made into a scene where everything is fatally important all the time, where the abstract and irrational is taken seriously, and the energy exchange between audience and performer is strengthened.
Blue Motel is a cornerstone. The same way one can see the four winds blow from each their corner of a square world, Blue Motel has its function, placed approximately where ships fall over the edge of the table and into gaping mouths. Blue Motel is a place one can arrive to from all the edges of the world, all the most deserted places in the world, where the web of reality is at its thinnest.
Blue Motel attracts strong dreamers from all kinds of worlds and dimensions. Here cartoon and fairytale characters meet dead philosophers, serial killers and suicides. Catatonic sleep meets another form of reality, seeping into our mundane world's structure through thin membranes.
Where does dreams come from? Where are you when you dream? You are there, right, and it cannot be less real than being awake.
The project Blue Motel examines the flight from reality as a positive strategy and collective movement. It is a shamanist initiation and European education journey in one.

Lisa Lie is a writer, artist and performance artist from Trondheim, who has had great success in the performance theatre duo Sons of Liberty. Sons of Liberty's works found themselves in the interjection between performance art and text-based theatre."
