Above the Town
Above the Town (1983) was a production by Cabaretgruppen. Above the Town was a Norwegian-Yiddish cabaret with its world wide premiere at Det Gamle Raadhus (Oslo) in October 1983. The production was performed at Det Gamle Raadhus for two weeks. Later it was performed again in Oslo, for schools, among other things, and as a visiting performance in Trondheim, Stockholm and Aarhus.

Above the Town was Bente Kahan's first professional appearance in Norway, as well as her first Yiddish performance. It was called a Norwegian-Yiddish cabaret with Yiddish songs and folktales as well as new texts written by the English playwright Julian Garner.
