"Bibeu is very sensitive... She likes to feel deeply the emotions which cross her and she expresses them with her body and her particular language: mumblings, grommelots (a non-sensical language, Sceneweb's comment) and other more comprehensive comments, carried by her "cavernous" voice. Her naivety questions... She sings, she plays the accordion, the concertina, the musical saw and the trumpet. She dances, too.

Humphrey is supposed to be discreet, he is talkative with his body and his clumsiness is part of his relationship to the world. Supple and stiff at the same time, agile and hothead, he surprises by his postures, his absurdities, which he fully assumes… He plays the clarinet, the bass clarinet, the little clarinet, and he dances, with his taps shoes. And he dances with his tap shoes while he's playing the clarinet, too."
