Revolver

The revolver is descried as a symbol for a power tool, one that can be used to initiate change. It can transform an object from intact to destroyed and an animal or a human from alive to dead. The action is destructive, and does not necessarily lead to anything but destruction. In some connections, for instance, when talking about revolution, this destruction can open for the growth of something new and better.

According to Hansen six shots can create a revolution, as the revolver holds six cartridges. It is said that words can be ammunition, and because of this, Kim Atle Hansen wants to examine if six words can bring forth a revolution, literally or metaphorically.

Artists from The Middle East and Norway were invited to take part in the 2011 festival with the backdrop of The Arab Spring with great changes in several Arab countries, as well as the terror actions of July 22 in Norway. The artists were given keywords such as tumult, terror, fear and sorrow, but also hope, love, conciliation and democracy to work from.

The performance festival 2011 was supported by Arts Council Norway, Public Art Norway (KORO), the county of Hedmark, the municipality of Hamar and the Boat Association Hamar Båtforening.
