Rogaland Theatre s Alice was a modern version of Alice in Wonderland:
"The state of Wonderland is an emotional state in an emotional state for the time being."
In Rogaland Theatre'sversion Alice is 12 years old and she has very recently lost her brother in a traffic accident. The story starts during the memorial service after the funeral. As Alice tries to handle the loss of her big brother she has withdrawn. In her imagination she meets The Queen of Hearts, the Knave of Hearts, the Rabbit and so many of the other familiar characters from the original. In this version they are similar to people Alice knows in real life - such as her mother, her father, her aunt, a waiter - all of whom are present in the brother's memorial service.
Here, the journey through the wonderland was the story of a young girl'sbrave voyage through the landscape of the mind, in which fear, mourning and rage loses to love, joy and hope.
Humour, skateboard, hip hop and hat hitting, combined with pathological tea drinking, bad short time memory and incomprehensible poems.
The participating performers were from the Children- and Youth theatre at Rogaland Theatre. They are all aged 8 – 17 years.
