She Shrieks by Sara Gebran found inspiration in photos by the photographer Arthur Fellig, alias Weegee, who was a press photographer in New York during the 1930es and 40es. He often worked outdoors during nighttime, in the street, in nightclubs and at crime scenes, and he had a homemade darkroom in the back of his car. His photo book Naked City (1945) has inspired several movies and TV series.

In the Oktoberdans program the following is written:

"Through his camera he captured the dark zones of the city, crime and human excess. Gerban's production has become a corresponding, violent outburst of energy: Onstage we see three women switching between dance in the style or martial arts and model-like posing, accompanied by two Japanese post-punkers - Yoshida Tatsuya and Sasaki Hisashi - on drums and bass respectively."

The music for She Shrieks by Sara Gebran is from the band Ruins. In 2000 the production won the award Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis/Scandinavian Platform.
