Neil Simon wrote two versions of the same play, one with men in the leading roles, one led by women. The male version was written first, with its world premiere in 1965, and it is often referred to as The Odd Couple (male version), whereas the female version had its world premiere in 1985, and is often referred to as The Odd Couple (the female version).
