Når det stokker seg for Stein

Når det stokker seg for Stein by Turnéteatret is a monologue performed by Peter Kippersund. A geology professor crazy for stones is to hold a lecture about the geology of Norway.

The title is a wordplay on the Norwegian expression "når det stokker seg", which can be translated literally to "when sticks mix". The expression is used about situations of mental mix-ups. The male name of Stein literally means Stone. A better English translation of the title would in this case be something along the line of Stein (Stone) on rocky ground.

In Når det stokker seg for Stein by Turnékompaniet professor Stein uses power-point and computer technology as aids in giving the audience a thorough introduction to geology. But the technology fails and he has to take use of unorthodox effects in his presentation.

"Are you not interested in plate tectonics, continental drift, nuclear binding, mining and mineral flotation, you think? Now let’s see!" After the performance a quiz is held. "Is lava really raspberry jam and how much pressure does ore have to be under to create sulphur farts?"

Når det stokker seg for Stein by Turnékompaniet was made as part of the Fryd Scene production called En frydefull fjelldag i Folldal gruver (literally: A delightful mountain day in the mines of Folldal) and later performed as an independent monologue.
