Ferdsskriveren* (The Flight Recorder)

The project Ferdsskriveren* (The Flight Recorder) consisted of the production and publishing of a box containing an anthology of literary texts, a CD and a documentary book, as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of BIT Teatergarasjen.

The aim of the project was to celebrate BIT Teatergarasjen in a way that could be both artistically interesting and documenting the range of the BIT Teatergarasjen s activity in particular and the contemporary performing arts in general.

Editor Marie Nerland writes the following about Ferdsskriveren* (The Flight Recorder):

"The title Ferdsskriveren refers to flight data recorders (FDRs) or "black boxes", registering everything that happens in a cockpit during a flight. These boxes digitally register all that happens and hence they eliminate the opportunity to manipulate what has happened. The idea of our flight data recorder is to provide an opportunity to create another form of documentation, for which the keywords are all thematically related to the journey; risk, landing, take off, turbulence and being underway.

Ferdsskriveren makes it possible to rewind and forward, draw out fragments and other voices. BIT Teatergarasjen and the editor wanted the content in the box to represent artists and a theatre working in exciting zones, through which the journey always holds a certain risk."
