On the website of Dramatikkens hus the following, among other things, is written about Nordområdebevegelsen* (The High North Movement) by Haugen Produksjoner:

"After living half her life in the midst of Europe, Haugen returned to Northern Norway to find her home district a priority area.

'The High North will be Norway s most important strategic priority area in the years ahead', the government says. In the High North one is used to grandiose words from the southern government, and it doesn't necessarily lead to action.

As a dance artist Haugen is an action specialist. She chooses to take the government seriously this time around, and is about to start a movement, Nordområdebevegelsen (literally: The High North Movement). This is a popular parallel to the public High North Strategy. The aim is to create more movement in the north, and to have more people see north.

Even though Nordområdebevegelsen is a new initiative, it builds on old movement patterns. In the family of Haugen there is a tea set from Russia, one that her paternal grandfather traded against fish. As so many others at the time, he was doing business with the Russians. It was called the Pomor trade. Inspired by this, a journey to Arkhangelsk and the Solovki Islands (also known as the Solovetsky Islands), plus meetings with Russian women in Russia and Norway today, she makes her priorities."

Nordområdebevegelsen by Haugen Produksjoner is supported by: Arts Council Norway, The Norwegian Barents Secretariat, the municipality of Tromsø, the county of Finnmark, The Audio Visual Fund, The Fund for Performing Artists and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts).
