On the webpage of Hollow Creature the following is written about Great Expectations:
"The puppets of Great Expectations are made of latex, making their surface strangely similar to human skin. The nakedness of the puppets is examined in interaction with the puppeteers, who manage what can be experienced as a SM-game in a closed room, in which the liberating pain is examined. The puppets become a tool to process inner pain; through physical experience and in the meeting with the other.
The production Great Expectations weaves the dream into a landscape of images, remembering origin and the sense of imminent destruction. It is poetic and raw at the same time. It may seem disillusioned; yet the same a wish for a wholeness, some security, pushes through the humble and endless respect for the fact that the authentic can't be lived out, that truths are repressed as soon as they seem to be understood; that we all are, each by ourselves, alone; we don't want to be alone, but we can't be together forever; the longing.
Two puppeteers, video installations, text as voice-over and an intimate mood convey the content.
Near are we, God.
Near and available.
Already grasped, God,
Digging claws into each other, as if
Our bodies
Are your body, God.
Pray, God,
Pray to us.
We're near.
Distorted by emotion we went out there;
We were out there just to bend
Our asses over abyss and ditch.
It was blood, it was what
You dropped it in the gutter, God.
It shone.
It flashed your picture in our eyes, God;
Eyes and mouth fall empty and vulnerable, God.
We ve gotten drunk, God,
On the blood and on your picture
Which lay in the blood as if the blood was piss.
Get drunk, God.
We're coming.
Kathy Acker"
