Persona
Persona is an installation by Romeo Castellucci (Italy) presented during the festival Meteor 2011.
Silenus is one of the basic characters in classic Greek comedy, often represented through a simple mask (a persona) with a satanic grin. In addition to being the servant of Dionysus he is, according to mythology, an old satyr detesting civilisation.

Romeo Castellucci – known for his dystopian, picturesque theatre work through the company Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio – presents in Persona a bronze mask of Silenus.
The aim of the installation Persona is to create fear, not for the mask itself, but for what it directs its all-seeing glance towards, that is us, the audience, representatives of the so-called humanity. The bronze statue also shares the function of old church bells - it sounds the alarm.
Romeo Castellucci's Persona formerly has been presented during the Prague Quadrennial's project Intersection: Intimacy and Spectacle (2011) and Festival Homo Novus in Riga (2011).
