"Director Jon Tombre makes something thin as a needle out of a good concept. Peter the Great from cradle to grave. [...] Peter den Store* (Peter the Great) is sloppy handicraft, while good artists and a good idea have been misspent. Jon Tombre made a totally different impression with Vellystens Tilflukt* (The Refuge of Pleasure) in the water reservoir at Kampen. With that in mind one expects much from Tombre, not cheating."
