Nature is not beautiful is a concert performance by BOL. Nature is not beautiful is an improvisational and experimental concert performance. BOL plays with the encounter between the acoustic and the electronic, between text and music.

BOL is a machinery: Tone sings and operates sound technology, Ståle operates synthesizers, Tor beats the drums, Siri circles in satellite around the Earth and sees it all/takes notes.
We who attended Symposium in February still sit with the sound of Grandma’s "do you want waffles?" from Tone Åse’s lovely Lydnovelle (literally: Short story in Sound). With Nature is not beautiful Åse returns to Avant Garden with her voice, music and electronics. This time she is part of the experimental jazz/alternative music trio BOL, in which Åse’s vocal and electronic gadgets are followed by Ståle Storløkken’s magical landscapes of sound and the groovy drumming skills of Tor Haugerud. The trio has launched three albums and toured the Nordic countries and Europe a number of times.
Nature is not beautiful was made in collaboration between BOL and Siri Gjære. Gjære’s texts inspire and drive the music forward, creating a dramaturgic frame around the concert experience. Gjære is a musician and writer and writes distinctly poetic and musical texts for her own and others’ compositions. The text in Nature is not beautiful deals with glee and frustration over the Earth we love, but are unable to take care of. It is unsentimental and non-ironic."
