In the theatre production Eden Central one can clearly see that Manah Depauw is fascinated by the fragile balance between madness and obsession, simulation and acting.
Avant Garden presents the production like this:
"Which is the place of the human in the world and the nature? In a world of loneliness and overconsumption, tweeting and Facebook, cheap flights, alcohol and food, Eden Central puts its characters in a surprising new situation where hope for community and salvation may exist. Or not.
Eden Central is a deep jungle, a world of science fiction, where people seek to get away from barbarism to create a new civilisation and eventually try to become human beings. Onstage a fully distinct evolution and civilisation history is created through interpreting humans in animal disguise or animals in human bodies. In her search for an old Eden Manah Depauw takes use of mythology, carnival and folklore. These sources of inspiration are visible in all her recent productions.
Manah Depauw dives down into the world of mass rituals. She seeks cultural expressions, temporarily putting the social order out of effect, questioning the image of good and evil as opposites. Her recurring themes are the human ability to, possibility for or wish to council with its own fragility and place in nature."
