Frontal Confrontation was a project starting in 2007 with a solo that got the title of the project - Frontal Confrontation - and was performed in the Rehearsal Room of Rom for Dans. The foundation for the project was physical exploration of battle and confrontation.

In Frontal Confrontation - solo # 2 Venke Marie Sortland examined themes connected to surrendering. Can surrendering create power? Can surrendering be an expression of confidence?

Sortland was concerned with stamina - what happens to the performer and the audience during repetition or long-lasting performance. Sortland wanted to give her confidence to the audience. She was interested in how the body could move between the abstract and the tangible, and how she could create an expression in which the audience could shift between being pulled into a meditative state - and feeling part of the dancer's movement.

Lars Myrvoll played live during part of the performance.

Frontal Confrontation - Solo # 2 by Venke Marie Sortland was supported by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (travel grant/performing arts.)
