For Kingdom and Fatherland AKA Homeland Insecurity
For Kingdom and Fatherland AKA Homeland Insecurity by and with Shabana Rehman was a patriotic show about Norway in the world, about Shabana who is an immigrant for the second time in her life, and who tries to figure out where she is really at home. Even though she has travelled around the world and has become a red-hot patriot at home in the kingdom of Norway, she still sees a potential for improvement.
For Kingdom and Fatherland by and with Shabana Rehman was supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts). The production exists in a Norwegian-language version and an English-language version, and it later switched its English-language title to Homeland Insecurity.

Dagbladet, Lillian Bikset, 20.11.2009:
"The aim isn't laughter. The aim is understanding. For Kingdom and Fatherland follows Shabana’s own way towards Norwegian patriotism. It is not just her way: In For Kingdom and Fatherland she includes the whole family history from her father’s journey from Pakistan to Norway and the letters he wrote back home to the family, to her own return to the country after a stay in USA. In many ways the father’s and the daughter’s story are both the classical immigrant story, a journey through the classes revolving around hope for a better life for oneself and those who stand the closest, about setbacks and not giving up. Shabana Rehman had to go to USA to understand how much of a Norwegian she is. With For Kingdom and Fatherland she wants her audience to understand the same thing."
