frø frø frø* (seed seed seed)

Frø Frø Frø* (seed seed seed) was a theatre production for children by Haugen Produksjoner.

Three little seeds land on earth. Who are they, where do they come from and what are they to do here?

This was the beginning of an imaginative story about some of the curiosities of life. The three seeds were very different, but eventually they managed to gather around a collective assignment.

In the production Frø Frø Frø* (seed seed seed) by Haugen Produksjoner three seeds glided through the universe, landing on earth; one snail seed, one human seed and one seed not quite knowing what it was, but it dreamed of being a rose.

During the performance the audience got to know the personalities of these three seeds, their dreams, ideas and differences. At one point of time the snail seed heard the call for help from the seed storage facility in Svalbard. Temperatures had risen too high, and the seeds were in danger of sprouting. The three seeds had different motivations, but eventually they managed to surpass their differences and to agree on the assignment they had in common.

Using magic the three eventually got to the seed storage, where seeds had already started sprouting. It seemed as if it was too late. But after a time journey back in time – to before the sprouting – the seeds were saved. And at the very end the little seed who had called for help had something more to say, from within its box.

In addition to movements and dance throughout the performance there were some pure dance acts included in Frø Frø Frø.

Frø Frø Frø by Haugen Produksjoner was supported by Arts Council Norway (independent performing arts), The Audio Visual Fund, the municipality of Tromsø, SPENN, The Fund for Performing Artists and the bank Sparebank 1 Nord-Norge. The production got producer support from Dansearena Nord.

Press coverage

"It is a simple story, but with several layers of deep questions. Here was life-philosophical reflection over the small and big questions, phrased by tiny little seeds. The texts are childlike imaginative, simple and funny and they make both children and adults laugh, though at different lines. In combination with the dance and choreography this is an aesthetic experience. The passionate dance makes the children rejoice and the stage design, just some cardboard boxes, is used to effect."
