Thora på Rimol* (Thora of Rimol) by Hjalmar Borgstrøm is based on a narrative in Snorre Sturlasson’s Heimskringla.
"In Melhus lives the powerful lady Thora, who loves the Earl named Haakon Sigurdsson, but he has betrayed her. Olav Tryggvason comes to Trøndelag, wishing to take over the rule. He promises richness and honour to whoever can hurt Haakon Sigurdsson. This is overheard by Haakon and his slave Tormod Kark, who with the aid of Thora has sought refuge under the pig sty of the farm. Temptation becomes too much for the slave Kark. At night, while Haakon Sigurdsson is asleep, he beheads the Earl and brings the head to Olav Tryggvason in Nidaros. Instead of being rewarded, he is accused of betrayal against his lord and he is decapitated himself. A furious lynch mob is out for Thora when it is discovered how she has misled them. With the sword of Haakon she kills herself."
