Void Story
Void Story (2009) is a theatre production by Forced Entertainment, after an idea conceived and devised by the company. The text is written by Tim Etchells.
Tim Etchells directed it.
In Void Story, one follows a beleaguered pair of protagonists on a rollercoaster ride through one terrifying cityscape after the other. On their journey through the night, a night so intense there is no star to see, they are robbed, shot at, attacked by insects, hunted through subterranean tunnel systems and stowed away in a refrigerated transport. They seek refuge in haunted hotels, lose their way in the wilderness and get lost in dark alleys and bewildering tivoli parks.

"Forced Entertainment performs the dark and comical fable as if it were a radio play. The performers sit at tables, turning the pages of the script, changing voices and adding sound effects. Behind them the whole thing is visualised through a series of projected images, made in the manner of a storyboard for an impossible movie version of the deeply disturbing text.
Forced Entertainment, described by the newspaper The Guardian as the most brilliant experimental theatre company in Great Britain, is based in Sheffield, England. With productions ranging from the very theatrical to the minimalist and textually based, since the start in 1984 the company has twisted and turned the understanding of theatre, examined the contemporary experiences and created exciting, intimate meetings with the audience."
