In the spring program 2011 of Avant Garden the following is said about the production Klinsj* (Clinch) by Katja Brita Lindeberg:

A clown is shut inside a boxing ring, ready for a match. Klinsj is Katja Lindeberg’s production for youth and adults about a boxing clown who most of all wants to be loved. In close interaction with the clown the musician Magnus Børmark plays with instruments, samplers and effects in creating a complex sound image accompanying the ongoing fight.

Klinsj is an honest and raw performance in which the symbolism and emotions of the sport of boxing express more battles than those fought with gloves. In the meeting between a brutal sport, the sensitivity, naiveté and playfulness of the clown, and society’s norms and expectations, several questions about the way we relate to each other are posed. This is a different clown performance which may turn the perceptions of what it means to be a clown upside-down. As a matter of fact, some say the reason clowns exist is to remind us what it means to be human."

Katja Lindeberg has worked professionally as a clown and an actress since 2007. Her previous productions have toured venues such as schools, kindergartens and refugee camps in Norway and Sweden. In Klinsj she collaborates with composer and musician Magnus Børmark, known from the bands 22 and Gåte.

Klinsj by Katja Brita Lindeberg was supported by Arts Council Norway, Spenn.no, The Audio Visual Fund, The Fund for Performing Artists, the county of Sør-Trøndelag and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts).
