In the spring program of 2005 by Avant Garden the following is said about Powered by Emotion by Mårten Spångberg:
"For Mårten Spångberg dance is the opportunity to think differently. The dance expresses thoughts not yet thought. Spångberg works conceptually, and his choreography becomes composition. Through his work he often questions certain sides of artistic production."
Mårten Spångberg has collaborated closely with distinct companies such as Les Ballets C de la B, and the acknowledged choreographer Xavier Le Roy, with whom he has also worked as a performer. He teaches choreographic method at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels.
Since 1999 Mårten Spångberg has created his own productions, which are performed in the most prestigious dance and theatre festivals in Europe. In 2002 he choreographed for Ballet Frankfurt, on assignment by William Forsythe.
Powered by Emotion was in the program of Avant Garden characterised as "his until now most personal and intimate work. It is a truly classic solo, but it is yet the same undoubtedly among the most contemporary in contemporary dance".
Mårten Spångberg and his company Fame International also took part in the festival Bastard in 2001.
Powered by Emotion by Mårten Spångberg was supported by Arts Grants Committee Sweden, Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs, Gulbenkian Foundation, P.A.R.T.S. and Kaaitheater.
