In Death is Certain by Eva Meyer-Keller parallels between food and humans are drawn:
Tomatoes and people aren’t similar, but still; tomatoes have thin, slick skin, soft flesh, and the juice is red like blood… What happens if you act towards tomatoes the way humans act towards each other?
Without change of facial expression, Eva Meyer-Keller kills the tomatoes. One by one they are executed in different manners. The trivial kitchen drama turns into something brutal.
