Adventurous Adventure

The dance production Adventurous Adventure (2008) by Siljeholm/Christophersen invited the audience into a fairytale universe with combinations of dance, theatrical characters and movie animation. In the battle between good and evil there were references to contemporary times as well as the fairytale tradition, and characters and situations were recognisable and easy to identify with.

Adventurous Adventure was the first collaboration project by Sara Christophersen and Helle Siljeholm. They wanted to make a fairytale with a clear story which could be conveyed through movement and projection. In collaboration with Sement & Betong they developed a universe in which film, animation and dance could co-exist side by side.

This is the story about a magical fairytale forest, an amazing fairytale forest, the most adventurous fairytale forest in the entire world! A forest blinking and shining! But one day the scary shadow Skuggan steals the heart of the forest: The Golden Shoes. Without the shoes the forest will die! Who can help? The superheroines Snik and Snok, the self-appointed super guardians of the forest, take on the case. Together they embark on a dangerous, demanding mission to save the forest from sure death. Can they get the Golden Shoes out of the grasp of Skuggan, so that the forest again becomes the beautiful adventurous place it once was?

The production toured with The Cultural Rucksack in the county of Aust-Agder 08/09 and during the school year of 09/10 tours in the counties of Nordland, Sogn og Fjordane, Oslo and Finnmark were completed. In additon it toured with Listaleypurin in the Faroe Islands in may 2012.

Adventurous Adventure by Siljeholm/Christophersen was supported by the county of Aust-Agder The Fund for Performing Artists, Atelier Nord, the culture centre Trikkehallen in Kjelsås and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs/MFA (travel grant/performing arts).
