Baktruppen polishes the trophees of Sonia Henie was founded in the view by Baktruppen that Sonja Henie’s collection of trophies had for a number of years been neglected by Henie Onstad Art Centre.

The collection was such a sad sight there were plans to put it into cartons and to rebuild the room in which it was exhibited into a bathroom. That made the members of Baktruppen polish all the silver and to put it back into place.

Baktruppen also had suggestions for persistent maintenance of the collection:

"If the silver is to be maintained the best way possible it needs to stand in sealed showcases, and how about ARRANGING the collection so that it is not totally randomly placed?"

At the same time Baktruppen wanted to remind the audience that the Art Centre in Høvikodden had been established by Sonja Henie and her husband:

"A museum should be extra cautious not to erase the traces of its own origin."

At the time there was also a sculpture in the trophy room. Baktruppen found that this should be removed, making one room in the art centre void of art. They also thanked the art centre for benevolent assistance during the polishing work.

Baktruppen polishes the trophees of Sonia Henie has been regarded as an iconic example of Baktruppen’s work.
