At the webpage of Dansens Hus the following, among other things, is written about Human:

"Human puts mental health under the spotlight. Through a combination of modern dance, visual technology and specially composed music and sound, we are given insight into the human's inner battle. This is a solo performance in which all the projected visuals have been created by using the dancer's own body parts and movements only.

She is never alone onstage, the dancer in Human. On several screens, through video projections and effects, all her inner demons are visualised. Even though the production's main theme is schizophrenia, we can all recognise the frustrations of her life.

Tharan (Plire Multi) and Espen (Tundra*) developed the story and the drama with the aim of making a performance in which the images and the choreography are strongly united in their examinations of the human mind and body.

'Schizophrenia is a mental illness affecting how a person thinks, feels and functions. We are interested in the moment when you no longer see a person as human, but as ill, mad and Schizophrenic. Through a fragile, intense, beautiful, honest and frustrating 'battle', we wish to illuminate the human mental challenges and to shake up the spectators' feelings.'

- The creators

The theme of the production Human illuminates and draws attention to a taboo subject, related to all human beings. Prejudice, humanity, understanding, empathy, tolerance, and recognisable frustrations are words often repeated in the audience response. Human does not want to be patronising, but we hope that the spectators feel the performance in their bodies, and that they form new thoughts on the issue. And hopefully, that they become more open to dialogue and acceptance.

Plire Multi is a dance company built around the choreographer Tharan Revfem, with an interdisciplinary orientation. The company was established in 1999 and mainly produces performances combining dance and visual technology.

Tundra* is a creative, visual studio, working from Oslo and London. It is led by the creative director Espen Haslene and art director Karine Faou. The two have won a number of international awards, and their works are characterised by a unique yet varied visual expression."

Human was supported by Art Council Norway, the county of Vestfold and the regional dance centre of Österbotten.
