Kak sprek

Kak Sprek was made by Kulta Productions especially for the street theatre festival Best of the Fest in Arkhangelsk in 2009. It is a simple story in fairytale style about culture clashes between Bohemian musicians and posh aristocrats, told with circus techniques, live music, fencing, speed and humour.

The title words of Kak sprek by Kulta Productions means "What do you say?" in the language of pomor trade, also known as "Russian Norwegian". It was a trade language of some hundred words used between Norwegian and Russian traders, hunters and fishers until the 1920es. After the Russian revolution the contact gradually decreased and the language fell out of active use.

Kak Sprek discusses the topics of tolerance and openness, in particular how one too easily becomes suspicious and afraid of what is strange and different. The production is not dependent of spoken language to be understood.
