"Jon Fosse's little, grand novel Morning and Evening describes two days of the fisherman Johannes' life.
The day he was born and the day he is to die. Between the traces from a work-filled life by the coast, between memories and experience, Johannes moves through the landscape he knows so well, and into the unknown death. His best friend Peter brings Johannes along on his last journey, and from his boat, they make their farewell with the earthly and tries to meet the ungraspable nothing.
Actor Stig Amdam conveys the literary and the human qualities of the text in an excellent manner. To see it play out in a frame including the landscape, so significant in Jon Fosse's writing, adds a dimension opening the story even more.
Det Vestnorske Teateret should have toured with Morning and Evening in boathouses this spring. Instead, we have the occasion to invite you along on Johannes' journey, filmed at the Western coast belonging to Fosse, where words and nature are so closely interwoven."
