Istindportalen has a square area of approximately 8300 square meters. The building is run as a cooperation project between the Norwegian Armed Forces and the municipality of Målselv. Included in the house are the main library of Målselv, the culture school in Målselv, the canteen Ess, a printing press company, a climbing wall, a service office for the Norwegian Armed Forces, rehearsal rooms for music, two concert halls/cinema screening rooms (the main showroom and a blackbox), a sports hall, a spinning room, a workout room, offices for the Armed Forces, a uniform shop for the Armed Forces, a depot for the Armed Forces plus offices for the Armed Forces’ magazine Forsvarets Forum.
