"Originally the festival brought together the most prominent university theatre groups from Latin America and the most important intellectuals that marked the history of the event: Pablo Neruda, Miguel Angel Asturias, Ernesto Saturday, Alfonso Sastre, Mario Vargas Llosa, Jerzy Grotowski, Jack Lang, among other prominent writers and playwrights.
Since 1984, and after an absence of 10 years, the festival selects independent professional groups and companies seeking experimentation language for theatre renovator (most likely, the festival means to say renewal, Sceneweb's comment).
