Les Hivernales - Centre de Développement Chorégraphique
In 2001, Les Hivernales, originally established in 1979 as a dance festival, gained official status as a choreographic development centre under the name of Les Hivernales - Centre de Développement Chorégraphique (CDC - Les Hivernales Avignon vaucluse Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).

There are eleven CDC centres in France, each of them with specific activities.
Each CDC has its own specificity and develops an original project linked to its history and its own local characteristics. The centres have merged in a collective organisation in order to generate new dynamics for dance's sake: development of residencies and policy of coproduction and diffusion of the sheltered companies within their network.
