Svartlamon Hardkor started March 17 2004, and had its debut May 15 the same year during the event Pøbelrock managed by UFFA. (UFFA is an autonomous youth club in Trondheim. The letters UFFA are short for Ungdom For Fri Aktivitet or literally Youth for Free Activity.)
A couple of weeks later Hardkoret performed during the festival of Bakklandet Skydsstasjon (under the motto of "Hard and enchanted"). At the time the choir consisted of a little more than a dozen singers. In February 2007 the number was increased to closer to 35.
May 20 2006 Hardkoret experienced its largest triumph. The choir was invited to Oslo and the restaurant Kampen Bistro to battle Mannskoret in a choir battle. Mannskoret lost to the challenger from Trondheim.
The repertoire of Hardkoret is rather varied, ranging from drinking songs from the 1500s, South-African chorals, via songs by the Norwegian duo Knutsen & Ludvigsen to classics from the tradition of rock and punk.
To a large degree the choir uses texts and arrangements by the choir singers.
The most known song of Hardkoret’s may be Rævsprekka, sung with a coarse text using the same melody as Telefonkatalogen.
January 13 2011 Svartlamon Hardkor had, with the female choir from Svartlamon, a concert supporting the youth club UFFA, which was victim to a fire during Christmas 2010.
The choir practices take place in the old facilities of Strandveien Auto in Svartlamon, called Verkstedhallen.
