Trøndelag Theatre's collection of posters(9)
Trøndelag Theatre was established in Trondheim in 1937 and is now a regional theatre, with Norway's and Northern Europe's oldest auditorium and stage in continuous use, since the opening December 16 1816. The early history of the building spans over dramatic societies, travelling companies, Throndhjems Theater (1861-1865), and Trondhjems Nationale Scene (1911-1927). You may read more about this here.
Many attempts were made to establish an enduring theatre institution in Trondheim, but except for the period of Trondhjems Nationale Scene (1911-1927), Trondheim didn't get a regular theatre until 1936, led by Henry Gleditsch. Since then, Trøndelag Theatre has been a major art producer in Trondheim and the surrounding region. The theatre's history has at time been dramatic, and it is central to Norwegian theatre history.
