Jeg vet hvorfor describes how the siblings Maria and Matias are forced to find their own solution to an unsolvable situation during 24 dramatic summer hours. The summer holiday is on. The others are tanning and plan a beach party. But not Maria. Her life has been turned upside-down and she sits in the train station with a rucksack by her feet. She has made a choice. It turns out to be a choice in which life and death are at stake.
