Medealand
Medealand is a play by Sara Stridsberg (Sweden).
Oslo International Theatre, which performed the play as a staged reading in 2011, describes the play as follows:
"In Medealand Sara Stridsberg (Sweden) sets the story of Medea in a modern timescape. When Jason leaves her, Medea loses her permit to live in Corinth, but she has nothing to return to in Colchis. She is trapped in a society where she is unwanted, with no rights, a stranger. Stridsberg humanises Medea's desperate actions and her flight into madness. She sees the world through the eyes of Medea, a world in which the health care system and the government represent an unstable Goddess, and in which Medea gradually leaves her role as an individual to become an icon: The rejected, the revenger, the child murderess."
