Amahl and the Night Visitors is a one-act opera by Gian-Carlo Menotti, translated into the Norwegian by Gunnar Reiss-Andersen as Amahl.
Amahl and the Night Visitors was written on commission from the American TV channel NBC, as the first opera specifically written for TV in USA. It was first broadcast by NBC Opera Theatre Christmas Eve 1951.
