Among the roles Jorunn Kjellsby interpreted for Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's TV drama division were Ellinor in Bjørg Vik's Two Acts for Five Women, Kate in Harold Pinter's Old Times and Helena in Look Back in Anger by John Osborne.

At The Norwegian Theatre Jorunn Kjellsby has confirmed her position as a significant performing artist, with roles including Ulla Winbladh in the Bellman production Vertshuset Haren og Hauken* (The Inn of the Hare and the Hawk), in The Learned Ladies by Molière, in Faust, Madame de Sade by Mishima, as Mrs. Stockman in An Enemy of the People, as the mother in The Lark - Jeanne d'Arc by J. Anouilh and as Ruth in Frode Grytten's Songs of the Beehive.

Jorunn Kjellsby was nominated for The Hedda Award 2001 in particularly excellent performance category for the role of Emmi in Fear Eats the Soul, produced by The Norwegian Theatre in 2000 and based on the play by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

Jorunn Kjellsby made her movie debut in 1970 in Ballad of the Masterthief Ole Høiland, and has had roles in all of Wam & Vennerød's movies after 1976.
